Is the Keegan Effect Happening?

Getting away from Buying Players, King Kev is the best of getting the maximum out of players. Saturday saw us win 4-1 v Hartlepool a good result for the first game of pre-season. The stand out performers we're Damien Duff and Danny Guthrie. Duff still has a point to prove to Newcastle fans after two disastrous seasons since joining from Chelsea. Keegan has a habit of getting the maximum from player's who are considered past their sell by date, i.e. Beardsley, Bracewell, Venison, i like many other fan's will be sceptical of this unless we see it after the 16th of August, but it is a promising start, however getting Alan Smith to start playing well is a different kettle of fish altogether.

The other promising thing from Saturday was the introduction of Danny Guthrie. He came on at half-time and changed the match, making an assist and scoring with 8 minutes of his introduction, this could be the best bit of business this season, we've been begging for a good passer of the ball for the last 3-4 seasons in midfield after having to see Parker and Butt try miserably with their "Long Passes".

Next up is Newly Promoted Doncaster, hopefully Beye, Owen, Faye & Geremi will be fit for this match. Jonas is unavailable as Mallorca typically are holding on to his registration which we need to go through FIFA to get.

Chant of the weekend has to be “If Shola Scores, We’re On The Pitch” lol.
