The Undefendable Sam Allardyce

That was the feeling left at St James Park, after what was another horrific performance. Newcastle’s defence is more of a joke now than with Bramble and Boumsong in, Sam Allardyce is just a joke in himself and then to top it off we almost give derby their 2nd win and first double of the season. They have taken 4 points out of 6 against us, scored 3 of their 8 goals against, doubled their points tally and doubled the number of away goals in a single match. They in first half a shambles at the back and we could not even take advantage of that, second half they we’re the better team overall despite them still looking a shambles all over while Newcastle’s 2nd half performance will probably go down as the most embarrassing in their 14 year premiership history. If we can’t even beat teams like Derby who will most likely beat Sunderland’s lowest ever tally of 14 points, we have massive problems.

Here are the stats:

We are 1 point better off than this stage last season with Glenn Roeder who had a much bigger injury list, a worst squad and by this time in the season a worst fixture list having played all the top 4 away from home and having gone 9 games without a win at one stage. Also playing more fixtures with the Intertoto cup, UEFA cup run and Carling Cup ¼ finals run.

While this season we still need to go to all the top 4, and also have trips to Tottenham, West Ham and Aston Villa to contend with. And we only narrowly avoided relegation last season.

Allardyce is totally out his depth, his tactics are beyond reason, he hasn’t even heard of the word attacking and his only priority is not to lost games. That mentality is from the sixties and it was reason why the three points for win rule was introduced to get teams to for wins. After ½ of the season he still doesn’t know his best team, is putting square pegs in round holes to accommodate players like Alan Smith and Joey Barton, while players like Enrique who has been no way near our worst player this season can only get into the Reserves so there’s another 6 million gone in the wind. Is playing players out of position, i.e. Rozehnal (who was a midfielder at PSG), N’Zogbia, Milner and Yesterday Martins who just didn’t seem interested at all first half, but who can blame him he’s not a winger, and then he see’s Alan Smith who has scored zero goals this season despite having played every game but the spurs match in his position. He comes very arrogant, stubborn doesn’t like criticism at all and thinks that he is right and 45 – 50,000 Newcastle fans are wrong. A

After ½ a season you expect for your manager is know his best starting 11, plays a team which you see a certain pattern of play, balance to the team, continuity and the team starting to gel. What we are seeing is that we are getting worse. How many games have we deserved to win this season??

Bolton Won 3-1

Everton Won 3-2 (Best Performance of the Season)

Arsenal Drew 1-1 (Very Good Second Half Performance)

We have ridden our luck in every other match this season with us playing the worst football seen on Tyneside since the days of Richard Dinnis and the worst of them all Gordon Lee. The reason I’m so critical with a lot of other season ticket holders is because we know we have a decent squad capable of playing decent football, and the vast sums involved with Season Tickets etc then you expect to be entertained. Speaking to friends on the bus home, not one out of around 10 said they are not going to renew if Allardyce is sacked, and that is the feeling around the stadium.

That is apart from the stupid Toon Ultras who finally started to get thrown out for their consistent standing. One reason we pay extra season ticket money is because clubs had to spend 10’s millions on converting stadiums to All Seater Stadiums and if I pay for a seat then if I have my view blocked by someone standing then they should be thrown out. The fact that they blind faith support to Sam Allardyce is only sung by them speaks volumes for what the rest of the crowd feel towards him.

Message to Mike Ashley, fans are starting to lose patience with yourself and Chris Mort. It is widely believed that both of were armchair fans. You need to start taking it serious, as Newcastle fans can only take so much and it’s at stretching point at this time. You have stated that you will listen to the fans, then the booing at Full Time and consistent call’s for his sacking on Radio shows. You could lose a lot of fans next season, the fact that 25,000 season ticket waiting list have disappeared in the 3 years from Sir Bobby’s sacking, tell’s it own story. A good manager will sort a team instantly as they bring instant success to their clubs. Some Examples:

Arsene Wenger won the double in his first full season

Jose Mourinho won the Premiership in his first 2 seasons

Rafa Benitez won the Champions League in his first full season.

Gerard Houllier (My Choice For Manager) won 5 Trophies in One Season and won the title every season in charge of Lyon and should of won the Champions League One Season.

Now as we go into January, I hope that we do not spend any money on players as I wouldn’t even trust Fat Sam with another person’s money than with mine. The money will be best sent to give him, Pearson, Round, Terry Mac and his backroom staff of 20+ all the sack.

The fact that we have 3 defenders as coaches and they can’t even sort out a defence speaks volumes for their coaching skills. Also the fact we have no attacking coach at all on our books, shows the negativity from the management of the team. Sam had over 3 months to bring players in and ship them out, the fact he says he wants another 3 players is showing his weakness in the players he brought in especially Enrique, who was considered a future LB for Spain for his no-nonsense approach to defending and his nickname The BULL.

So Pro Allardyce fan’s, give me the reasons why he should be allowed to stay and he will be a success, because I don’t see many excuses coming forward apart from the whole time excuse which good managers don't need!

This is a very good article and surely silences the remaining Allardyce fans out there. Although I'm not as eager to get the Big man out, I am starting to loose patience. Yesterday's second half performance was abject, inept, lifeless. The fact we are only one point better of than this time last season is actually quite freighting.

I hate the reality that we are calling for our manager's head only 6 months into his tenure, we've been sacking manager's for fun recently and it is not healthy. I begged for stability at the beginning of the season and was quite happy to give Big Sam a couple of seasons. However, the word stability is becoming a bit of a 'buzz' word it football management. If things aren't working then thet're not working. Even in the games we have won this season we've looked at best average. The 4-3-3 hasn't worked effectively since the beginning of the campaign (with exception of Bolton?) so why persist? I feel for players like N'Zogbia and to a certain extent Martins who are wasted in unatural positions. I just hope Big Sam and the players can turn performances around soon or else I fear we'll be looking at the eighth managerial casuality this season...
