Fulham v Newcastle Match Report

This I have to say was the worst game of football I have ever seen, I’ve seen 10 year olds play better than what was on show on Saturday evening. The fact we we’re as bad as Fulham for 80 mins who look in deep relegation trouble is a worrying sign, as we have a very hard 2nd half of the season, with trips to all of the top 4. I am very happy with the result, but I am a football fan I don’t have blindly support Newcastle so I do care about the football I see and what I’m seeing at the moment is dreadful, if we had a dreadful team then fair enough but we have a good squad with talent, unfortunately we have a manager who doesn’t believe in just entertaining the football fan. Allardyce may be getting results but he won’t be winning any fans with this and fans next season will vote with their feet at renewal time.

Newcastle started the better with some threatening balls and some neat play but after this the 1st half became mediocre with both teams trying to be worse than the other, Newcastle did have the best chance falling to Joey Barton who should of done better with his header. The second half was an improvement but only very slightly, with Fulham starting the better with Hameur Bouazza fizzing some great balls in which Newcastle defended generally well with Cacapa who has been missing since the Pompey game having a great game. Newcastle brought on Emre for Geremi and this got some urgency and quality to the midfield and then Viduka come on for the again disappointing Martins. From Viduka coming on the best chance of the game appeared when Emre’s free kick ended up with Rozehnal at the back post who laid the ball for Viduka who couldn’t stretch for the ball. It was Viduka who also had a part in winning the penalty after brilliantly holding the ball at the edge of the box deep in injury time; he laid the ball to Smith who after releasing the ball to Milner was clattered by birthday boy Elliot Omozusi then Milner shot straight at Niemi. Howard Webb who waited for the advantage pointed to the spot, to give Newcastle the chance to win the game which any team didn’t deserve to. Joey Barton who played his best game so far, stepped up and sent the ball to Niemi’s left which he dived to, but it was a good penalty and Newcastle had won the game right at the death.
Anything less than 6 points and 2 good performances will be an embarrassment against Derby and Wigan who are 20th and 19th respectably. You should remember Derby’s only win and last home goal was against us, that is embarrassing in itself.

MOM: Cacapa – The guy needed a good performance and he did, the guy is a good defender despite his last game he did have a mare which you can forgive for any footballer having.
